National Bill Mail Service (NBMS) The minimum quantity to be posted is 10000. Tariff Upto 50 gms - Rs. 5.00Ø For every additional 50 gms or part thereof
- Rs. 2.00Ø This service is meant for destinations other than the local ones
serviced by BMS. These articles will be treated as first class articles providing air
transmission |

Formula to calculate Volumetric Weight: When the volume is calculated
in cubic centimeters, the formula to determine the volumetric weight in

Letter Maximum weight is 2 kilograms Paper used for envelope should be of minimum 70 GSM • The paper
should be flexible enough to bend into “ U shape” • Metals clips and staples
should not be used for closing envelop • If window envelopes are used, Window
size should be Breadth = 35 to 50 mm and Length = 80 to 125 mm • Window Paper
can be of o glassin paper of 35 GSM, o cellophane of 40 GSM o PVC or BOPP of
15 micron thickness ( window) |
Inland Letter cards (ILC) Maximum weight is 5 grams. Rate of postage per ILC is Rs. 2.50 ILCs shall be made of paper of minimum 70 GSM. |
Post card Post Card is the most economical means of communication.
Post cards are for transmission within India only. Dimension is 14 cm X 9 cm
(length and breadth). We accept privately manufactured Post Cards also
provided that they are of same size and consistency of departmentally
manufactured ones |
Book packet Maximum weight is 5 kilograms. ------ This is economical compared to letter post For the first 50 grams or fraction thereof – Rs. 4.00 For every
additional 50 grams or fraction thereof – Rs. 3.00 There shall be no personal communication enclosed or written up on a
book packet • It shall not contain any paper money, postage or other stamps,
cheques etc. |
When a publisher is granted license to post without prepayment, the
PO should take the following action • See that the copies of newspaper are
handed over at the counter with an invoice in duplicate in the prescribed
form showing the details of posting. • The original copy should be retained
by the office of posting and duplicate returned to the sender duly checked. •
The amount of postage due on all postings will be adjusted twice a month on
the 16th for posting between the 1st and 15th of the month and 1st of the
following month in respect of the postings from the 16th to the end of the
month. The bill should be paid within 7 days by the licensee. |
Blind Literature Packet (BLP) Postage / Registration charges / Acknowledgement – Free If sent by

Parcel service is available generally for transmission of goods Maximum weight - 20 Kgs – For Unregd. Parcel - 4 Kgs – For BO or from
BO - 10 Kgs Tariff – Up to 500 grams - Rs.19 – Additional 500 grams or part -

Air surcharge (Inland) Second class mails are transmitted by surface.
However, if the sender wants these to be airlifted, air surcharge has to be
paid. Rate of air surcharge is – • For the first 50 grams or part thereof –
Rs.2.00 • For every additional 50 grams or fraction thereof – Re 1.00 |
Business Reply Permit Post Office will be charging a handling charge of Re.1.00 per article
in addition to postage, at the time of delivery of Business replies posted by
the customers. The fee payable for obtaining Business Reply Permit is as
follows: • 1st quarter i.e., 1st April to 30th June - Rs. 200.00 • 2nd
quarter i.e., 1st July to 30th Sept. - Rs. 150.00 • 3rd quarter i.e., 1st Oct
to 31st Dec. - Rs. 100.00 • 4th quarter i.e., 1st Jan to 31st March - Rs.
50.00 The permit is to be renewed during March for every financial year. |
o Amount of license fee is Rs.375 for the period of five years. o
when the amount at credit falls below Rs.100/-, further credits should be
made by the user. o Rebate of 3% given, on the previous consumption, if the
